This year I'm using a little different technique. Past years I would plant peas heavy, wheat and oats heavy and then my small seed mix heavy. I always put down more than enough fertilizer. This year I'm planting a deer garden. I will palnt for quality instead of quanity. Peas will go down heavy. Because they wont last long and the deer will help in the covering other seed too. Then I will go light on my oats and wheat. This will be just mainly for something the hold the other seed till they get going. My secret mix(not much of a secret) I just mix my own instead of buying the high price pre-packaged deals. I can draw I picture of a a big buck on my bag if I need too.:bounce: My mix consist of Rape, turnips(for late season), crimson clover, Yuchi clover, Kale, alphafa, and chicory. This is what I want in my food plot late November. So I will not over seed but plant accordingly to planting instructions.
What is your plan?

We planted wheat and BFO, at a rate of 25# to the acre, Iron Clay Peas and Austrian Winter Peas at a rate of 20# to the acre, Crimson Clover and Arrowleaf Clover at a rate of 10# to the acre, Rape and Purple Top Turnips at 2# to the acre this coming Saturday will be 3 weeks ago and they are looking great.

Next year I plan on dropping the Rape and Turnips since you're not suppose to plant them more than two years in a row in the same soil and may try some of the Duranna Clover and possibly some Chicory as somewhat of a substitute.
