From tip to tip,in FRONT of the riser? All my recurves will just barely string backwards with hardly any tension on the bow....
If nobody tells you any different, that would prolly make a good starting point....

Measure from tip to tip on the side of the bow that faces away from you when you are shooting it (This is known as the back of the bow). When measuring you want to follow the contour of the bow, so use a cloth tape or or a piece of string. Let's say for example you get 64"; you would order an AMO 64" bowstring. Any more questions, gimme a holler; let me know the measurement you come up with.
If you have an older bow be sure to put a dacron string on it and not one of the Fast-Flights or DynaFlight 97 types.

here are several ways to go about it. I assume there is no writing on the bow and you do not have an old string for it? If that is true you can do this" Take a piece of good string. Tie a loop in it and hook it on the upper limb in the string groove. Now lay the string against the bow, following the curves, all the way to the bottom string groove. Measure this string and order a new string 3 to 4 inches shorter.
The second way is to take a strong string and loop it on the string groove and wrap it around the lower groove and then pull the bow to its correct brace height, probably around 7 1/4", with the temporary string. When you have the bow strung and braced to where you want it, remove the string and measure it and order a new string that exact length.
A custom made string of Dacron B50 will run $8 to $14. This guy makes good strings and if you call him he may be able to tell you exactly what string length you need.
