Why should we hunt evenings rather than mornings the first week?

I am also curious about this myself. I've always been one to hunt mornings and evenings. I don't know if I am goofing up or not.

That being said, the majority of my trail cam pics during the first few weeks of bow season are midday and afternoon.

You're more likely to spook a mature buck early in the morning the very first week. He's often back to bed by the time sun comes up anyway. They are easier to pattern on an afternoon feed pattern, because they've not been pressured at all, and will get on their feet before sunset. I hunt food sources very close to bedding only. I normally will hunt some mornings early season, but only for does, and nowhere near where I think a buck I'm hunting might be. If you don't booger them up early, you will have a good chance in the evenings. I do the same strategy every year, and its worked well for me.

I'm off opening week. I'll have trail cams and corn piles in strategic urban spots. Looking for ol slick horns.
