Out today on two trips....early was just for tweaking sonars on Jeff's boat - and they were dialed in nice. Then the afternoon trip. Hot, sweaty, and sticking toads!
The afternoon trip was with Maiko and WenKat..."Cat" as I called him. Maiko is a Rod Bender....Cat moved here 3 years ago from India....lived in Philly...then moved here 3 weeks ago. This was his second time ever picking up a rod/reel.
Gave him some pointers....taught him to cast...and after about an hour, he was good to go. I figured something out after about an hour and decided to look and try it in places. Bingo!
I was hunting bait...big schools of bait....and then throwing the spybait and working it through the bait or areas where I saw the bait. The big girls were in the bait or just off the sides. I wasn't really targeting brush piles with the spybait...just the bait. When I did ease in on brush...it was near the big schools of bait and most had fish on them.
The new colors, Cotton Candy and new and improved Sweet Rosey did damage again today. The Duo Realis 80 G-Fix and 90 series spybaits did their job well. Maiko did his damage with the spybait and drop shot....Cat was the "spybait ninja" today. On one school of bait - Cat went back to back with a 5+ and a 4+. On another school of bait - Maiko lost toad he had on.
Awesome few hours in the heat - we were downing some water and sticking fish. Great fun with a ton of laughs...and Maiko and I did some singing and dancing on the front and back decks!
