Dove Field Help

We planted a 3 acre dove field of browntop and proso millet with some strips of corn.
Everything grew very well but the millet matured quicker than we anticipated and is dropping seed.

Looking for some recommendations for what the best plan of action is for a good dove shoot.
Should we leave it thick then cut before season?
Cut now and reseed?

Any suggestions helpIMG_1139.jpgIMG_1136.jpg

Mr. Pappy
leave it and start bush hogging strips in it about 3 weeks before season begins.

You aren't that off on your timing. I agree with Pappy, wait about another week and then start stripping it down. Harrow over your older strip and give them some fresh turned bare ground.

Burning is also a great option closer to time, but not everyone has the resources or skill to do that. Also, depending on your location, you might not be able to due to the burn bans.
