Mod 71

I have not done any reloading for this caliber, so I can't help you there. The model 71 is probably the finest lever action rifle ever made, in spite of how 1886 aficionados may protest. As far as the .348, although there are certainly more powerful chamberings today, it will, even in factory form, flatten any North American critter extant. Anyone who possesses one has a true American icon and Winchesters premier levergun.

I don't have personal experience with either ... but the .348 can drive a 200 grain FP(Hornady does/did make one) .... pushed by IMR 3031, IMR 4320 or IMR 4350 will get you about 2500 fps out of a Win. 71 ...

Ive got dies, cases and projectiles but have never loaded a shell. But I've got over a case of factory loaded ammo so I havent had a need yet.
