1987 yj carb problems

my son in law bought my grandson this vehicle. previous owner said he could not get it to run or idle
correctly. carb has been rebuilt no help. advice from someone said to get a weber swap out kit.
any advice would be appreciated.

Is it getting fuel? Lots of variables there, I'd hate to tell you to throw parts at it not really knowing what problems its having

If it still has the carter, throw it in the trash and get a Weber. You won’t be sorry.

X 2. Solved the problem with my 89. You gonna need an old school mechanic to get the Webber adjusted properly.

I know a guy with the same problem.
3 rebuilds and now I get to tell him to get a weber

The carter BBD is actually a good carb when adjusted properly. Google “nutter bypass”. It’s easy to do and your carter will love you for it. One step more would be the “team rush” ignition upgrade.
