What is the best life vest for fishing in my kayak? I'm new to the sport and want to get a life vest that is comfortable. Also I'm a big boy at 275 lbs. Suggestions will be appreciated.

They are made specifically for sitting in a kayak seat, the back padding on the PFD only goes about 1/2 way down your back. I have an NRS Chinook that I enjoy.

I use one of the auto inflatable type. Academy has one that's about $60.
I also use an inflatable belt type in slow/still waters.
The type mentioned above that are designed specifically for Kayaks are probably better all around. If you fall in with one of the auto inflatables it's going to inflate and unless you have a backup that's made to fish/paddle with you are done for the day unless you are going to fish with a giant inflated pfd around your neck

What size chinook would I need at 5'9"" and 170 lbs

I have the blue and orange one from Academy. I'm about 260 and it fits fine and is comfortable and didn't break the bank. It has enough pocket room and places for attaching items.
