Hawks raising in the back yard this spring

Fortunate to have a family of hawks in our back yard this spring. Last year it was five pair of nesting barred owls and one pair of great horned. They are still around, but left the nesting to the hawk clan this year. The mama and daddy raised three little guys and it was a hoot to see them finally fledge about two weeks ago. Now, instead of hopping from branch to branch as mama and daddy watched, they are enjoying swooping around and keeping an eye on our garden. Little buggers looked funny when getting their feathers, as their heads were the last to lay in feathers. Adult looking feathers, fuzzy heads. Not long after that they were fledged out and looked like bonafide hawks.

I too am blessed...feeding time used to be a little loud...seem to be quietening down a little. A previous year i was able to watch them show the little ones how to catch a Dove on the driveway across the street...man those feathers went everywhere. The two little one swooped down right behind the adult...landed in a pine dot far away and shared it with them.
