computer time help

A while back there was a thread on how to correct the time on your computer. Mine is consistantly losing time. I will go in and change the time but keeps on losing time. If I remember it had to do with something running in the background. This thread was way before the crash. I am running Windows 98. Please help me with this.
Thanks

You might want to try replacing your cmos battery. It is a small lithium battery on the motherboard in the computer. You can get one a radio shack for about a dollar or two.

Some of the CMOS Batteries are soldered onto the motherboard. But if it is not it will look like either a small AAA battery or a rather large watch battery about the size of a nickel.

These guys are right. CMOS battery's are your number one cause for time slippage. Why can't we have a Technical Help forum again?
