Good deer processor near Athens

I was wondering where a good deer processor is located around athens. Also, do they clean the deer for you or just process the meat?

Don't know how far you'd be willing to go but Dorminey's in Carnesville is probably the, no it is the best processor I've ever done business with.

There is also one on 29 right in Winder. Dont know how far you travelo out. It's right across the old mellow mushroom. If you took 316 to hwy 11 and turn right, then turn left on 29 its right there on your right. Never used them, i just quarter mine out usually. I have always used redbarn in loganville for everything else. Hope that might help.

Yea, The Deer Market in Jefferson is GREAT. This is also the cleanest place I have ever been in! They will treat you right.

As far as I know, there is not a deer processor in Oconee or northern Greene County. I am not sure whether Greshamville Mall, off HWY 278 between Madison and Greensboro is processing deer this year.

I just saw an advertisement for Firetower #2 in Stephens, which is southern Oglethorpe County. Don't know anything about it.

We hunt on the Oconee/Greene County line and go to Hicks.

The cleanest place you will find near Athens will be Woods in Ila.. Nice people and very clean for a processor...

I think Smitty's has gone out, and Firetower has opened a second location in their building.

I would drag mine to dormineys before i would drive it anywhere else. Very clean and wonderful christian people. Just sayng. Woods is ok. I live across the road it seems to keep busy.

Best there is plain and simple. 65 miles or so 1 way from my house but thats where all mine and everyone that hunts with us takes theirs to.

I don't know how long I (and other members of my club) have been going to Hicks, and we have never had a complaint. As you say, super nice, super helpful, and very reasonably priced.

I agree with the recomendations for the Deer Market. They are about 15 miles north of the Athens perimeter east of Nicholson.

Firetower #2 in Stephens did a great job on two for me so far this year. One steaks/roasts/ground, one all sausage. About a week turn around time.

I asked them cut the antlers off a deer and weigh it, fully expected an additional charge, they gut the skull off for a European mount and weighed it for no extra charge.

$66.00 to gut, skin and process steaks/roast/ground, a steal in my book.

I have used Firetower in lexington and thought they were good. Also if you kill a hog there is another Firetower nearby that will process your hog...or your cow for that matter.
