Yeah, man. Me and the family are going up Thursday and coming home Sunday. We make it a family vacation and all of us look forward to it. We are staying at Opryland as well and will do the usual trip to the Opry and such. The wife and kids are stoked, and well, I guess I'm pretty jacked as well.

You will have a blast. A humble suggestion for you to consider is to spend your time checking everything out and then go back and buy what you liked the best. There is so, so much stuff and it can be overwhelming. Also, there are a lot of great callmakers there, but there are also a lot of great salesmen if you get my drift. It could take most of your day Friday just to make the rounds and narrow down your choices.
I'm not trying to meddle, just trying to help. Good luck and get ready for turkey hunter's heaven.

Gobble and Strutt and JamesG are right. You'll feel like 2 year old gobbler surrounded by a 100 yelping hens.
Walking around and scouting it all out is important. The guys that sound good running a call will call you in.
When it comes to pot calls, I often will only buy the call that I heard being ran and the striker that was being used.
And Shawn, you should get room soon as it is a convienient and nice place to stay and you run into good folks at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Thanks for the advice Gobble & Strut, with that many booths and the loads of people coming in, I bet there are some good salesman out there. I've got some call makers on my list that I'll be hitting up first thing Friday. Does anybody know if Lamar Williams will be in Nashville?

Last I talked with Lamar, he told me he wouldn't be in Nashville this year. Haven't spoken with him in a few months, so not sure if he's changed his mind or not.

Y'all will have a blast. The stockyard has great steaks and they are pricey, though, in case you don't already know. They have a complimentary shuttle that will come pick you up and return you to Opryland motel. When you get ready, just call them for a reservation a couple of hours in advance and tell them you want the shuttle. You should consider going to the Opry if you have time as well. Call the motel and they can get you some good seats. The whole experience is great. take care

yeah, we went to the stockyard this summer when we were up there. it was our first time, and it was a good steak. not someplace that i could go to celebrate a tuesday night, but it was our anniversary when we were there this summer, and this will be a little get away trip as well, so it'll be ok. it absolutely is a fine steak...anyone who wants to go out for a nice dinner in a place that has some pretty cool history should check it out.

They usually have plenty of parking at the motel/convention center. It is usually well marked and they even have shuttles to save your legs. So just go to the Opryland motel and you should be able to figure it out easily from there.

I will be there Thursday night to Sunday, staying at the Gaylord. We make it a family vacation. My wife and 2 boys and my parents. If you have never been, you are in for a treat. It is a blast. Walk around first and then narrow your choices, because it can be overwhelming.
If you are staying in Nashville, make a trip to the Loveless Cafe. It is definately worth going to. Awesome food. The hotel can give directions.
