I saw some yesterday here in the Lowcountry - my first time seeing them. The were just a couple of days old (I stood right over them) - we watched the hen go back to them shortly after that.
- JP Is it turkey season yet? I love the sound of gobbling in the morning...

are they typically born during turkey season, or what is the normal time for poults to be born?
Another day in paradise!

It only takes about 28 days to hatch.
I hear the cliche"Were you raised in a barn"? when a door is left opened, someone that spent their childhood around barns, actually become very acute at NOT leaving things open.

Hens hatch this time of year every year. It is a little early but nothing out of the ordinary

I have been hearing of poults being seen 4 weeks ago. I think the hot weather early in the year got the breeding cycle started a little earlier this year than most.
