What Polls Would Look Like if Corrected for Oversampling

The Examiner is claiming many major polling firms are oversampling Democrats. Rasmussen Reports measures the electorate at 37.6 percent Republicans, 33.3 percent Democrats and 29.2 percent independents.

Romney is winning 90% of Republicans and Obama is winning 90% of Democrats. Romney is winning independents by 8 to 14 percent, but he is behind in many prominent polls.
That is because their sample includes 6.5% more Democrats than independents.

This chart demonstrates what recent polls would look like if they used the Rasmussen measure of the electorate.

Gallup is the worst for over sampling Democrats.

Public opinion polls are worthless in an era in which most people have cell phones only...pollsters have been slow to adjust their methodology to compensate.

Public opinion polls also fail to fully consider the hardening of ethnic voting blocs around a particular party...and how TURNOUT among these groups will affect the outcome.

This race will be decided by a few percentage points in a few states...Romney and his handlers had better get on the stick and motivate the only large reservoir of voters friendly to them...the shrinking but still majority of middle and working class Whites. Nebulous promises to "la Raza" won't get it.
