To the OP - most all protein cannot stand moisture so whatever you choose to feed, it needs to stay dry

I can second that. I had some get moldy just from the dew/fog. It wasn't clumpy just moldy on top. Underneath was good so I scraped off the mold (threw it away) and then scattered the rest, Something ate it (rabbits/coons).

I built my feeders about like Doolydawg except I used plastic barrels cut in half bolted to the legs , and I’ve used buck muscle and I can say the deer absolutely love it and made by good people , I decided to try straight soybeans this year just to see and the deer ate them fine

All I used was some scrap steel I had and bolted half barrel to it , and tin roof , works great and light weight if u want to move , and I’ll add that it’s important for your pregnant does to eat good also
