Fried some bacon. Removed. Then fried pork steaks in bacon grease. Removed. Then put cut up bacon, two onions cut up and two yellow squash in grease, seasoned with celery salt, pepper, pink salt, basil and marjoram, then stir fried until squash and onions tender. Very good. Didn't say it was good for you :bounce:

But bacon grease sure is tasty. When I grew up a coffee can was kept on the stove and the bacon grease from breakfast was always poured in it. When vegetables like green beans or baby limas were cooked a table spoon of bacon drippings was added to season.

My Grandmother had a can like that.

AND she use to say not to mind the black specks
on chicken eggs or duck eggs fried in the cast iron skillet.

All 90 pounds (with a pocket full of rocks) of her was a trip. :clap:

I love me some poke' chops!
