Has anyone planted native grasses?
I cleared about 2 acres of flood plain/ hardwood bottom.
Its pretty open now and should have good sun light. Already planted some clover and rye grain but want something native and perennial and not too tall.
I'm thinking of "little blue stem", Anyone have experience or other suggestion?
Newnan, Coweta county area. Zone 7

Area doesn't stay wet just floods when the river gets high.
Thought about some indian grass too.
Wanting "clump grasses" and the clover mix.
Any idea of sources other than Hancock seeds?

I've planted hundreds of acres of native grasses, forbs and legumes. Its a long process and will not be something you get to enjoy the first year. You'll need to incorporate chemicals and the seed alone can be expensive.
In all honesty you may be better off spraying your site with Chopper and letting the broomsedge come in naturally.

If you're determined to buy seed this is where you'll get the best.

I'm in for the long haul, Just want perennials, don't want to have to replant every year.
The area will be used for a "wildlife opening" so I would like it to be as natural and native as possible. Other than the fruit trees and clover.

Anyone plant "Yuchi arrowleaf clover"? I was going to plant this, it says it reseeds well. Maybe not perineal but if it reseeds and grows well in summer than I'm good.
