I'm beat. Part of me thinks I'm getting too old for this. Two streams in one day, both of which required a whole lot of walking. But in the end, it's always worth it.
Fished a lot of places that looked like this. After the severe drought of last summer and the woods burning down all around here, it was a relief to see so much water flowing.
Mountain laurel was in full display.
Sometimes when the fishing is slow, you gotta look around and see the beauty all around you. Such a diversity of life in this part of the world, it's remarkable.
Got this fella on his first speckled trout!
And caught a few of my own.
Then we walked what seemed like 5 miles back to the truck and fixed a bite of streamside lunch.
And then we hiked up another stream and caught some of these.
And every catch had a happy ending for the fish!
