Sitting here at airport watching people. I did not know the sick people and elderly people that can't walk had to tip the people that took them back in wheel chair. I was really surprised and now that I think about it I shouldn't have been.

It wouldn’t surprise me that it’s against the airports policy to accept a tip but that they do anyway

My wife tore her ACL while skiing in Colorado this year and had a person escort her in the Denver airport as well as the Atlanta airport. One was an idiot and got us detained by TSA and the other could best be described by a bunch of four letter words that aren't allowed on this forum. I didn't know they expected a tip. They definitely didn't deserve one. If I had known they expected them, I would have given them a shiny nickel just to be a four letter word in return.

I fly every week and Hartsfield is the bottom of the barrel! Disgusting, racist, entitled and right down rudest people you will ever see are employed by the worlds busiest airport.

I checked a bag at curbside recently and was told that "we work for tips, if you don't tip, we don't get paid.."

"Sounds like a personal problem, skippy," would have been my reply.

Most of my travel has been work related and many employers in this area encourage you to use the available shuttle bus services to the airport. It is cheaper than them paying you to drive then paying parking for the week etc.

This means the shuttle drops you off at the door and to me it is worth the $5 tip for curbside check-in, just so I don't have to tote inside and stand in line at the counters. They have always been very courteous but they do give out subtle hints like "Thank you very much for your kindness Sir..." just so you know they expect a tip. They always seem happy with $5 and they acted like I was J.D. Rockefeller once when I gave $10 to cover two of us travelling together.

If you want to see rude, try going in and out of LAX being white with a southern accent.

It always amazes me when traveling how airport employee's are so much nicer at other airports than they are at the Atlanta airport

Taxis in Atlanta are a horror story compared to other big city airports.

Most other airports, the rolling wrecks that pass for taxis in Atlanta couldn't get on the property.
