Yes, I read that from a couple of seed companies that recommended a cowpea inoculant, but these are the people who raise it, so I'd go with their suggestion.

Inoculate it with cowpea (EL) inoculant; it will nodulate better.

It will grow successfully without it, but if you want it to fix N for your soil, inoculate it.

I could not find EL innoculant in my area so I ordered some from Hancock Seeds. I'm using it on Sunn Hemp, velvet beans and iron clay peas.
