Listen for the acorn POP!

Have ya'll ever used this technique? This past Saturday My dad and I were doing some slipping around on a WMA here in Florida and located hog's by just the sound of them crunching down on acorns. At first I thought it was squirells eating pine cones until my dad shot. There was about 20 pigs in some scrub oaks crunching on acorns.

also on hickory nuts

Glenn, hogs also eat hickory nuts, hull and all. I have been drawn to them a few times while they crunched down on these hard nuts.

Last year I did see a bear do the same thing.

I don't see how in the world they "pop" them hickory nuts......That's like tryin' to crack a rock!!!!!!!!!! ::ke:

Imagine what they could do to a man's leg if'n they got a hold of it?????
