TV options

We currently are bundled with Windstream and have been satisfied for the most part. We have Dish Network through them, but we aren't home much as our kids are young and keep us on the go. We're wanting to look at other options but really don't know where to start. Of course we would like to trim a few dollars off the bill if possible. What service do y'all have and has it proved to be satisfying to your expectations? Cable is not an option as it doesn't come out as far as our house. It stops 3/10 of a mile from us. Give me your thoughts and opinions. Thanks.

We use internet-only cable access, combined with an outdoor TV antenna in Rome, GA. I usually get around 40channels (including sub-channels) regularly. You will need a big antenna, high off the ground, mast mounted signal amplifier. We paid for ours in 3 months of cable bills. (We ended up going back to internet only cable when the kids got in high school, but still use the antenna for TV).

If Windstream stand alone internet is reasonable, then you could try the antenna setup. There are lots of sub-channels available now that have movies, oldies, etc. With digital, the picture, if you can get it, is lots better than cable, satellite, etc.

Here's a good primer on outdoor antennas...everything old is new again. Don't let the "digital" terms fool you, this is the same antenna Grandad used, just better electronics and wiring.
