Backyard flea/tick treatment safe for dog and kids

Any recommendations for flea/tick/chigger treatment in the yard that is safe for kids and pets?
The last few times I used insecticide, it killed most of the grass.
I bought some "Eco" something yesterday at Lowes that says safe for pets and children, but did not say it killed chiggers.
It also says do not apply during rain, so I don't think I can use it this weekend.

Sevin dust. use it in the yard, on the dogs, in the dogs beds, nd even on the carpet in the house (vacuum it up)

The first year i had a flea problem I went to the vets office and they had something similar that was specifically for fleas/ticks and dog pens. worked great but i had to do it a few times to totally kill them because of eggs hatching. cant remember the name of it.

anyway i usually alternate triazicide and liquid sevin each time I do it now.

maybe check at a DIY pest control place?

Sevin dust kills honeybees.
Do the world a favor and save the bees by using the Sevin spray.
Borax..sold with laundry soaps...is effective flea and tick control.Make a shaker out of a quart canning jar and put it down every where you have fleas or ticks. It kills roaches for a long time, too.
