Looks like some folks below have been blessed with bull elk of a lifetime.

A bit surprising these big bulls were not taken further West in states more known for record elk.

Minnesota man's hunt in Caribou produces big elk

The elk weighed 820 pounds field-dressed, and the 6x7 rack had a gross green score of 433 inches and a net green score of 391 inches, based on the measurements by Greenbush taxidermist Paul Agre, who caped the elk for a full head mount.

As tough as it is to draw a tag in those states, they should have plenty of time to mature to be book elk.

You said it.......all the states east of the big muddy have limited tag system....age and plenty to eat plus fairly good genetics = big horns...
