The Haralson County Sheriff’s Office hopes to report fewer victims of ATV and four-wheeler thefts after their arrest of eight more people who were allegedly involved in a rash of thefts that began in the community a few months ago.

The recent arrests increased the total to 11 people facing charges, which include the three suspects who were arrested earlier this month in the first part of the multi-jurisdictional investigation. At that time, investigators recovered four-wheelers, construction equipment, a golf cart and trailer from local residences. Now, Haralson County Sheriff Eddie Mixon announces that 16 more ATVs and motorcycles have been added to the pot of recovered items as a result of the investigation. The locations where the stolen items were found was also where arrests were made following “extensive efforts,” according to a report compiled by the sheriff’s office.

“The case was extremely complicated and involved bringing in an undercover operative to conduct a buy-bust sting,” Mixon said. “In each and every case, the investigators followed the complicated web of connections to identify the suspects.”

Meanwhile, Mixon expresses relief about the arrests of the newest suspects, including Bremen residents Joseph Lynsey Brown, 20; Heather Leona Holsinger, 19; and Trevor Joe Meredith, 20, of Tallapoosa. The other arrests include Chelsey Nicolle Langley, 18, and Michael William Craft, both of Waco. Mixon added that Bremen residents Randy Scott Summerville, 18; Eric Patrick Monroe, 19; and Jesse Scott Hobbs, 17, were also apprehended in the investigation.

“Joseph Lynsey Brown faces charges of burglary and secreting property to defraud another. Heather Leona Holsinger, Trevor Joe Meredith and Chelsey Nicolle Langley have each been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary. Michael William Craft is charged with operating a chop shop, four counts of theft by receiving, and five counts of altering a vehicle identification number,” Mixon said. “Randy Scott Summerville and Eric Patrick Monroe each face charges of theft by receiving and secreting property to defraud another. Jesse Scott Hobbs faces charges of theft by receiving.”

The three individuals arrested in alleged connection with the earlier ATV thefts include Jenny Braswell, 37, and Shannon Cook, both of Bremen. Jason Baggett of Waco was the third to be arrested in that case.

As these individuals await their court hearings, Mixon says he is pleased with the outcome of this investigation.

“Often, locating vehicles, such as four wheelers and golf carts, can be very difficult. As in this case, items like these once they are stolen are often quickly transported out of the county or chopped up and sold as parts.”

He noted that it is helpful for owners to place some sort of identification on their outdoor equipment items in addition to the serial numbers placed by manufacturers. Record keeping references, such as photographs and receipts with purchase dates, can also assist in locating items that may be stolen.

Anyone with information regarding four-wheeler thefts or any other crime are urged to call the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office at 770-646-2011.
