Mud Motor

Got a new Gator Tail 37efi on a SeaArk 180 Mudrunner. First mud boat/motor. What are the top priority mods for the motor I should look into? I am doing 27-29 empty, 22-24 with 3 people, decoys, guns etc. Mostly running the flint/Ocmulgee rivers and lakes.

Your going to need a good push pole. Not for pushing but for turning around in a tight spot.

Speed changes so much by load placement. I used epoxy to mount a quarter sized level. Find your max speed per your level orientation. Then shuffle gear around as needed each time based on the level. I often tell someone to move forward or rearward.

Thanks

Thank you guys for the tips. It is a center console with a grab bar so we are covered there. Trying to figure out if I need to get a 2 blade prop.

Two blade will get you on step quicker and will be a lot better than a 3 blade in the mud.

Just remember if your messing with a big block mudmotor this is always just around the corner.

One more. 4700 rpm to dead stop split the block.

I've put a lot of hours in a mud boat on those rivers, stay with the smaller diameter 3 blade for better clearance on rocks. The 2 blade is designed for MUD, which you won't run into on those rivers.

I wouldn't bother modding an engine. I've had stage 1,2, and 3 builds by reputable companies, and the gains are expensive and lower reliability. If you need more performance, step up to a twin engine setup.
