Bill would extend deer season to Jan 31 statewide

The House Bill and the Senate bill both only addressed closing the season on the long state/school weekend which would always be the third Monday in January (basically giving back the week that was reduced last year).

And would be a positive for children and grandchildren, one more week would not negatively affect the herd. The House bill would have added one week, the Senate bill two weeks for small game hunting.

I think both bills also would have allowed deer archery hunting thru January 31s like the Atlanta area counties.

Understand that it passed the DNR Comm favorably, whatever that means - I have no idea.

I also understand from a Rep and a Senator that it likely will come back up next year....

Reckon they'll have to try again next year.
