I couldn't fish without a jerkbait, a fluke, and a jig n pig.

You know, I've thrown jig and pigs until my arm about fell off over the years, and I have caught a grand total of one bass on one. And it was out of a farm pond. I have never caught a fish on a chatterbait, either.

fish hawk

Bass Master

Swim bait,plastic and hard body.
Shakey head

Man I am with You! I had a number of years of frustration with jigs. Funny story how I learned them.

I had some bad back issues for a couple months, and I really couldn't move or work a moving bait. So I started flipping jigs, and did really well once I slowed down about 1000%.

The only reason I slowed down was because I couldn't access much water. It blew my mind a bass would stare at a motionless jig for 30 seconds THEN eat it.

I pump my jigs and count to 10 to 15 before I even shake em. After I started doing that I started catching on jigs.

I agree with many of you. I've caught two bass on jigs. My second best 8lb 14oz in a pond and a 2lb spot on Logan Martin. I try to fish them frequently but it's hard having only caught TWO fish in my life on them. What's up with these things?

Not a numbers bait, that's why most people don't like to fish them. You might have a day when there's a hot numbers jig bite but it's not the norm. It takes a lot of focus dealing with maintaining contact with your jig as well as bite detection. They are more versatile than people give them credit for, there's no set rule on how to fish them. Deep, shallow, fast, slow, dragged, hopped, stroked, heavy cover, no cover, flipped, skipped, bomb casted. With a lot of confidence and patience they consistently catch big bass, more so than I can say for any other bait.
