My daughter and I have spent a good bit time the past few weeks exploring Altama Plantation WMA, just south of Darien, GA. The old hunting camp and historic tabby sugar mill are neat and worth the visit, but what has intrigued me the most is the mystery and history of the possible original site of the first European settlement in North America, Fort Caroline.
