Russian Slab Sides

Ran across some of these rare Russian AK47 Slab-Side magazines manufactured by Izhmash when the AK first came out. I think they are about 25% heavier than the ribbed type mags that came out later.

Cool find ! I've never seen those, I ran across some Hungarian tanker mags (20rd) years ago, wish I had gotten more of them, I like them a lot better than the longer 30rdrs

I've seen these listed for anywhere between $45-90 each. I just might need to get me a rifle.:)

looking at those feed lips I have to wonder if they would ever wear out

Cool.

What are you gonna oil them down with ?

Looking forward to seeing how they run. I'm betting they'll do well.

I'll have to get a rifle to find out.
they have been in that box over 2 years..I might clean the spider webs off and blow them out.
what do you oil mags with?

CLP should do fine. Just wipe it on with a coarse rag.

They wiped up good...this one got Slip 2000
tried G96...might try Kroil also. They look a lot better without spider webs and that film. Now I can see some light engraving...looks like upside down letters and numbers on some. Got a better 8X image of the Izhmash stamp that is on each one too.
They have been stored without climate control for over 2 years that I know of and only one has a couple surface rust areas.
Thanks for making me jump on cleaning them up fellas

I really like Kroil.

It's been a great one for me when used on older parts.
