Thanks fellas, this guy is from Tennessee said they didn't have anything like that and I've never run across it in lincolnton

Yep. There are a bazillion different species of hawthorn out there.

Mayhaws are done with by this time. They get ripe in late May and June.

That looks like what we call a hog haw down here.
