Tomorrow, April 26th is Confederate Memorial Day in Georgia. It used to be a state holiday that was called that when we had state officials that didn't care to be politically correct.

Our SCV Camp in Athens is the General TRR Cobb camp # 97. Each year members of our camp place nearly 1000 Confederate battle flags on Confederate veteran graves in a 6 County area surrounding Athens. The largest cemetery is Oconee Hills in Athens with almost 400 veteran graves. We place them for no less than a one week period surrounding Confederate Memorial Day. We finish the week on the Sunday after CMD with a memorial service held at Oconee Hills Cemetery in Athens.

In this day of people wanting to erase history we of the Sons of Confederate Veterans want to continue to honor the brave men who fought to preserve their homes and lifestyles.

The image below is a section of Confederate burials that are unknown rear the entry to Oconee Hills Cemetery. These men may have died in a hospital at Athens during the war.

Gone but not forgotten
Milkman, I'm in Alexander H. Stephens Camp 78 in Americus, and we just did the same thing throughout Sumter county. It's a real shame that the majority of southern people could care less about southern heritage and symbols. The truth is, most have been cowed into submission by political correctness, and black radical groups. Very few people even know the truth about the causes of the War of Northern Aggression. The remnant of us that remember and honor our ancestors grows smaller as time goes by.

True

There are even those who know the truth that stay silent
