I wasn’t even going today. My plan was to chill until after lunch and then go to the college and swim for a bit. Then I got to thinking. Why drive anywhere when I could get my exercise in by putting a few items including THE Hound into the CS Too (Carp Shark also) and paddling up Crooked Creek?
Then as I thought some more I knew I could catch plenty of bait size Bream up the creek and I already had plenty of worms. I needed some Bream for bait because I have had some pretty good luck recently using them to catch Mr. Whiskers.
So there I was all ready with two reasons to go…..exercise and bait. So what missing link was needed to complete this morning’s trifecta? I thought you’d never ask…..
I coached middle school basketball for many years and one thing we coaches all have in common is that as one season ends we look forward with great anticipation to the next one. Knowing that summer was getting ready to close the curtain on 2016 I wondered if there were any signs of the season to come worth checking out up the creek. As you can see, Max and I were not disappointed at all in this part of our decision.
As I cast off my size 16 Flip Flops I began to scan the bank. It was soon evident that we were not the only recent visitors to the sandy shores of Crooked Creek.
It didn’t take long for this Ol Captain to put a few worms to use and seemingly in no time at all, we gathered our bait and headed back to the Dachshund’s Dock.
After a light lunch we were back here in the office spinning a tale of an Impromptu Threefold Trip.
Planning ahead can be fun but sometimes a spur of the moment decision can reap great rewards! Thanks for joining us!
