Red wasp killed a tomato cut "horned" worm?

Anyone ever witness this. I saw it today and the wasp flew away before I could get a pic. The wasp looked as though he chewed him up into a ball, eviscerated him and then flew off without it. Weird sight. I hope they kill all of the cut worms.

Lots of good beneficial bugs out there. Ever seen a bald faced hornet snatch a fly outta mid air? You can also order tiny parasitic wasps online to release into your garden.

I read somewhere that there is a wasp that will lay its eggs inside the horned worm. When the eggs hatch, the worm dies from the inside out. Maybe that's what you saw - a juvenile wasp escaping hatching?

Haven't witnessed the fly being caught. Cjones, the worm was small and the wasp full grown so maybe it was trying to lay an egg.
