Bush / Shurb ID help please?

These got in bad shape.

Pretty much grew all the way down to the ground.
Real thick and started to rot / die from the bottom up.
Looked almost like a large beach ball before I started cutting them back.

These are at my Mom's house and she was so busy taking care of my Dad before his recent passing, she didn't notice.

So, I cut all the dead stuff off and some of the thick green to open up the canopy a little.
Needles look a little like cedar but no smell.

She said they were expensive and wants to take them with her when she moves to a gated community for seniors.

I need to know what they are so I can research how
to maintain them until transplant.

Any help much appreciated!

It's some dwarf cultivar of Japanese Cryptomeria, looks like-probably 'Globosa Nana'.

I did the Bing image search.

That's what they are no doubt.

Also found a few "how to care for" sites.

Found this:
"Diseases / Insects : Two types of Fungi - Pestalotia sp. and Phyllosticta sp. - have been occasionally discovered on browned off branches in several areas of the Southeast. Hard to say for sure if these fungi were the cause of the browning, or appeared after branch dieback had occurred. No other major pest / disease problems have been reported."

Thanks for the info!

Most Cryptomerias I've dealt with have had a lot of natural brown-back on lower and interior branches, just from being shaded.

Just from pics they look a bit large to transplant. Maybe start some cuttings to be planted in new place?
