S.S. Stroker Chronicles

Got my first Kayak this winter, I started with just a plain-jane Emotions Guster to see how I like yak fishing. Put a couple rod holders on behind the seat and one in front of the seat. It works pretty well and I saved some money adding the holders myself versus buying the official "Guster Angler".

I have been out a few times playing around but this past Saturday was the first time I went out with the serious intent of putting the first fish in the boat. Fishing on my local reservoir was slow last weekend according to friends and the hut-master. But I was lucky enough to slime my boat with a great first yak fish.

I didn't have a scale or a tape on me so I don't know any of her stats but I was pumped regardless. Need to add a few items to the yak pack list such as a scale.

This was our first trip out, we weren't sure where to go either. We parked at Flint River Outdoors off of Highway 36 and purchased a shuttle ride up to Sprewell Bluff. It was a good half day float, we didn't hit it hard at all. Next time we are thinking about parking at the same location and shuttling up to Goat Mountain for a full day float.
