Hickory Bow

Had a large hickory tree fall during the storm this past monday. Is this a good tree to try and make a bow from? Trunk is very straight. If so, what's my first step before I go cutting the tree up?

Cut it to 70" long logs then keep splitting it till you have several pieces 4 inches wide and 70" long.
Seal the ends with paint, glue, or something. Try to get bark off it should come off easy while not damaging the wood. Then put in attic to dry. It might be dry enough next year to get started.

Ain't real easy to split hickory trick is to keep splitting till you pass out and when you come too go back to splitting.
