Beans for plots

Been thinking of planting pinto beans for a deer plot. Only about 1/2-3/4ac.
Iron clay run 35/50lb. I saw pintos for 26/50lb at a store today. Thought of mixing some kidneys or black beans also. Maybe Black eye peas if I can fid a big bag. Seems like it may be cheaper than going to a feed/seed.
Any thoughts? I assume the deer will eat the plants just as well and being a runner type maybe they will handle the browsing better?
Who knows I may be able to harvest some for eating also.
I would love to plant purple hulls but they are too expensive.

Good luck!!!

With small plots we cannot get any peas or beans past 1” tall.

We are trying, for the most part, to transition to perennial clover plots and save about 20% of our plots for brassicas.
