The Commerce Chapter of Outdoors Without limits and the Tri-County Outreach Chapter is hosting a fishing trip for Disabled Sportsman, disabled vets and Wounded Warriors on June 17th at Sugar Creek on Lake Oconee. This will be another Grand Slam trip and will be fishing for what ever you like. We would also like to have some juggers on the trip. We will fish from 8:00am to 4:00 pm due to another tournament at Sugar Creek. I can promise you that you will get as much or more from helping out than the disabled participants. Our trips are the only time many of this folks get to fish and catching fish is great but these folks just love to be there!. We have a wide range of disabilities so any type of boat will work. However, we do have a bunch of folks in Wheel chairs and pontoon and deck boats work great for them. Big CC's work good too but we can use any style or size boat. If you would like to help out with a boat, email me at tricountyowl@gmail.com or Arrow Flinger at owlhunt@att.net or PM us your contact info, type of boat, and if you will have someone helping you.

That fella in the last picture, he is in a wheelchair. He used to come as a participant 6 years ago. Now he has a pontoon and comes to these events as a captain. Just one way lives are changed through OWL

Last time i fished the OWL event at Oconee, i got skunked. I could use a little retribution. Put me down and i'll confirm as we get closer. 22' pontoon

Don't put me down quite yet, Joe, I'm 50/50 and would hate to need to pull out later.

Brian, last year it seemed like those that had success were those that were jugging. If I do it this year that's what I'm planning to do as well.

Brian what were you fishing for last year?

We will possibly bring some jugs this year however we caught like 8 or 10 catfish using cutbait on humps and points.

i think it was two years ago or more when arrow flinger coordinated it. We started fishing for hybrids and then fished cut bait. had one big pull-down, but came unbottoned after a brief fight. Felt bad b/c the folks fishing with me traveled in from N.C.

I may be down with it but I'll need to do some schedule checking and get the ok from the wife. We'll be pulling out for vacation the following week.. I'm tentative..

Can we throw out jugs the night before? :biggrin2:

Last year, they just dropped them at first light. It worked out good!

Sign me up as a captain. 17ft alum boat (plenty of room for a wheelchair and guest). If this is anything like the Lanier Striper Challenge, it will be a blast!

Make sure you have Logan and Phillip Carlisle down as captain and first mate. We plan on making the drive and hope to find some help with locating bait and linesides on the lake. We look forward to it.
