Heading up that way today to visit my parents in Hendersonville. I may have to wet a line while I'm there, depends on how much NC wants to gouge me for a temporary license.

$35 for 10 days. Inland license, trout stamp and online fee.

I have a NR Inland fish and Special Trout Fishing for a year 43 bucks total? Am I missing something?

No, the cost difference isn't much. The temp license is $33 but if bought online, $2 more. The Special Trout license is for a year regardless if one buys the annual or 10 day, but the NR temp license is for 10 days.
