PRESS RELEASE
October 7, it’s a day of Boat’s, Bands and Brews at the 3rd Annual Yellow River Jam, in Porterdale, GA.
Summary
In 2015, the Yellow River Water Trail Group and Porterdale Main Street came together to revive the Yellow River Jam event to showcase the Yellow River and the recently developed Yellow River Park. Tonya Bechtler, a long term advocate for the water trail shared her experience from attending paddling events around the state, members of the Main Street Porterdale Board brought together their experience staging music events in the village and the Jam became a day of Boats, Bands and Brews at the Yellow River.
The Yellow River Jam is on Saturday October 7, from 12:00 – 8:00 PM at the Yellow River Park in Porterdale, GA. The day kicks off with the Georgia Conservancy Paddle at 8:30 AM one of the most popular events hosted by the Conservancy https://www.georgiaconservancy.org/yellowriver. As an added bonus for this year’s Jam, Randy Vining, better known as the River Pirate, will be hosting a kayak fishing seminar from 11:00 AM – 12 PM at the south end of the park. Randy’s love of fishing in his beloved Georgia and in her most beautiful rivers and his skills and knowledge of river fishing is unrivaled. His commitment to the preservation of the rivers and protections of Georgia's natural environments makes him special. This is a free seminar on kayak fishing. From entry level anglers to those who have a lot of experience, you will always learn something and enjoy spending time with Randy http://www.georgiariverpirate.com/about-the-pirate/.

Performers at the river-side stage include, Upgang Band; Chris, Jon & Scott; Dos Blues Guys; Matt Moncreif; Sanctified Revival; and Scarlet Stitch. Joining the lineup of food vendors this year will be Cousins Maine Lobster, as seen on Shark Tank and voted number one Food Truck in Atlanta for 2015 and 2016. They will be serving up their classic lobster rolls and you don’t want to miss trying their lobster tots. Local favorites, Bradley’s and Your Pie will also be in attendance. Porterdale Bar and Grill is hosting the festival Beer Truck and pouring a great selection of brews and serving their sell-out BBQ and Wings. Attendees won’t leave the park hungry!
Roth Wild Adventures have kayak and paddle rentals available at the park. The Makers Market will be in full force for the second year with an excellent line up of vendors. Attendees can enter into some friendly competition with Porterdale’s super-sized yard games. For the young and not so young there will be super-sized bubble station, chalk drawing and face-painting. Bring some discs and try out the Porterdale Disc Golf course. Loaners will be available at the Company Store food stand
The Jam is a dog friendly event but the dogs must be leashed. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, sun umbrellas and popup tents (they must be weighted). There will be a drop off at the entrance. A limited number of popups will be available for rent in advance of the event. No coolers will be allowed in the park. Entry is free, however a suggested donation is $5.00 for an individual and $15.00 for a family group. All proceeds from the Jam assist in funding the programming of the Yellow River Water Trail Group.
