how to homemade cough syrup ?

I am trying to figure out the best form of homemade cough syrup using white liquor, I would like to premake it and have it just sit in my fridge or pantry. I have heard of different ways... putting peppermint and honey in it, or honey and lemon, what would be the best way for making a syrup type.
Any ideas or links would be great!
thanks

It wouldn't be as effective "made up" ahead of time.
My recipe;
1 FRESH squeezed lemon
1 cup bourbon or blended whiskey
1/4 cup honey (I try to stick with local grown but Sue Bee will do in a pinch).
Put all in large coffee mug and heat in the microwave till it's just warm (don't want to boil the alcohol out of it). 20-30 seconds.

I like the same recipe as contender*, but I don't heat it. Note that it will probably take several cups to calm your cough....

Yep, that's the "recipe."

May not cure what ails you, but sure as heck makes you not care.

65 years ago my mother would cut up onions and put sugar on them. The sugar would draw the juice (cough syrup) out.

I mix as needed, but equal parts of:

1 tbsp liquor
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp honey (preferably local)

Heat for 5-10 seconds in the microwave and stir.

thanks guys, Your right it might not cure your cough , but makes you not care

Not really, many over the counter cough medications are 10% alcohol, the mixture I mentioned is only 25%. Alcohol is used because of it's antitussive properties.

The traditional mixture here is good white likker, rock candy, and honey.

The wild cherry bark/elderberry/boneset cough syrup works and works well, but you need to know what you're doing when you make it.
