Tribble Mill Park

Checked out Tribble Mill Park this past weekend. There's a type of weed/plant that stretches from the banks to about 15 yards out, pretty much all over the lake. Fish were all over in those weeds in about 2-5 feet of water. Other than that, pretty much nil in the main channel. A good spot was between the chain link fence that juts out into the water from the dam to the concrete inlet to the right of it. Tried bumping a crappie jig up and down in the weeds but no luck, then tried trolling a 1/8 oz fishhead spin with a natural-colored plastic minnow just at the edge of the weed line. It seemed to draw fish out of the weeds. Caught two crappie and 3 spots in 2 hours.

The vegetation is water shield, and the spots were probably small largemouth. I've never caught a spot out there, but I haven't fished it much since they ruined it by taking out the grass. I don't crappie fish, but I've seen quite a few on beds in the past.
