Why not use one of these, keep it in you shack/tent/camper and never have to brave the elements in the middle of the night.

Lime works well but to keep it working and from filling up a small dose of Ridex in about 2 or 3 gallons of water is the way to go.

We had one on our camp that was built by some prior Leasee's . Worked great for the seven years I was there, if the hole go filled to full we just dug another hole in front of it and use the dirt to fill the hole that was left when we moved it. Threw in a little lime from time to time and we were good
