Sea Legs

Max and I just couldn’t wait. We were going to try out our new canoe somewhere other than our home court, but we only had a small window of time today.

After getting her in the water I added a 50 lb bag of sand in the bow for ballast and about a third of the way back I added an 18 pound hound. When a 250 lb man paddles a tandem canoe, he must compensate either by paddling from the middle seat or adding weight up front. I prefer to add the weight because I need the leg room that the back seat so generously offers.

After this brief test I conclude that it was money well spent! Very stable and easy to handle. I’ll have to add a bit more weight to the front when paddling alone but other than that this baby fits my pistol just fine!
As you can see, it didn’t take Maximus Relaximus very long to get his sea legs either. We hope you enjoy the photos!!

That looks like a fine rig Captain.
Congratulations!

Seems like Max took to shotgun real quick.

He's a trip. Nothing like a good dog!
