Your 300 AAC loads?

I would really appreciate hearing what you are using for 300 Blackout, why and your results.
Please include everything you think may be pertinent. Barrel length, gas system length, velocity, powder type, specific bullet and expansion of or lack of, etc.

I have on hand Sierra's 5th edition, Hornady's 9th edition and other stuff to show up this week.

My preconceptions have changed 3 times and I've not even reloaded one cartridge. Now I need some influence.

Thanks

Nosler 125gr ballistic tips over 17gr of H110 (work up to that in your firearm). Soft bullets that expand well 200 yards and in on deer sized animals

I loaded up some 110 Barnes tac-tx for hogs. Shooting out of a 10.5" with pistol length gas system, suppressed. Also loaded up some 125 SGK. I haven't chrono'd either round yet, I'm guessing somewhere around 2000fps. Using Lil Gun and H110 powders. I haven't had the chance to try them out on game. Also got some 208 amax subs, using A1680. This is a fun gun to shoot.

Here is 12.0gr of 2400 and 150gr Remington PSPCL retreived from a sand/clay media fired from about 40 feet.
Penetration was about 12".
16" barrel pistol length system.
Got one reading from the chronograph that session of 1551fps.
I have no idea why one is almost perfect.

I've just took delivery of a .300 blk AR that I had built, I've been reloading for years, and am anxious to work up some different loads, I picked up some Underwood ammo loaded with 125gr ballistic tips from a member on here, going to use them as a baseline to judge my reloads by. I'll be using the rifle on coyotes, hopefully some hogs, and occasionally will use it deer hunting. I'm hoping that 150gr ballistic tips and hornady 150 btsp's work well with it. I'm working with a 16in barrel, carbine length gas system and adjustable gas block. time will tell.

The 150gr Nosler BT should work at 300 AAC velocities being it is rated at 1800 - 3200fps muzzle velocity.

However most of the Hornady 150gr bullets are rated for velocities the 300 cannot acheive with the exception of the #3035 round nose. It's suggested muzzle velocity is 1800 - 2500fps.

A few interesting Hornady bullets close to the 150gr weight and operate at lower velocities are the #30395 FXT 160gr (1800-2600fps), #30311 Monoflex 140gr (1650-2800fps) and #30310 Monoflex 140gr (1550-2550fps).

110 Vmax

for yotes I use 110 Vmax, 21 gr Lil'Gun, CCI-450 and get 2300 fps with about 1" at 100 yards from a 8:1 Anderson barreled 16" AR.
tried 160 FTX, 15.2 gr Lil'Gun, CCI-450 for 1850 fps but it wasn't as accurate as the 110 Vmax.
not sure the 160 FTX would open at those terminal speeds, either.

300 BLK is the only reload that I crimp - learned the hard way - just say'n...

I have bought some 110 Vmax's and Lil'Gun powder, just haven't loaded any yet, I'll know soon enough which bullet weight mine likes, I'm hoping it leans toward 125 grain loads at least, mine is 1 in 8 twist also. I plan on using the Lee factory crimp die, I've had good results with it on other cartridges.

Some tests so far:

6.5gr of Trail Boss with 150gr PSPCL averaged 850fps, as expected it did not cycle the action.

12.0gr of 2400 with 150gr PSPCL averaged 1530fps.

13.0gr of 2400 with 150gr PSPCL averaged 1650fps.

14.5gr of 2400 with 135gr Sierra #2124 averaged 1870fps.

I picked up a can of AA1680 over the weekend to try with the 135gr and 150gr stuff.
Now I gotta arrive at a load, install the scope and test for accuracy.

A couple of more today.

20.0gr of AA1680 with 135gr Sierra #2124 averaged 1940fps and a little less than 1" groups at 50 yards.

19.0gr of AA1680 with 150gr Rem. PSPCL averaged 1870fps and a little less than 1" groups at 50 yards.
