Default Help wanted about hunting dogs

I am picking up a Brittany Spaniel in late January. I mostly chose this dog because we had one when I as a child. It comes from a top show and trial breeder, so my question is this. Are they good for small game? rabbits and such? do i need to run dogs for these animals? Is a Brittany a good choice?

Thanks in advance!

I would not use a spaniel for anything other than for flushing birds. I dont think they would be good for anything else.
