Spraying sunflowers

I'm getting ready to gramoxone my field and an open spot

I want to make sure I'm not jumping the gun on spraying. The heads have fell over and stalks are dying and shedding leaves. They are pretty much all brown now. Seed development has started but the whole head is not seed yet. The other edges are full of seeds. Will spraying them now be shorting seed development?

I got my spray today and plan to spray an open spot between 2 plots of sunflowers that was a corn field. Hogs got it all and I mowed it all last weekend and now will spray it to burn it down for the birds to land in.

They were already dried. I was mainly asking about killing grass. I actually just sprayed them this week. I ended up waiting until the heads were completely brown and see was across the while head. The grass between the rows is dying out now. Should be nice and clean soon. I'm hoping they keep enough seed in them for late season shooting
