Dovetail Mount?

I am looking to upgrade the sight on my bow, and I have read many threads on AT and here concerning the various types sights available. Is there any advantage to a "dovetail" type of sight mount? I am primarily a bowhunter and I don't shoot competitively as of yet, but I want to invest in a quality sight. Thank you.

The main advantage is being able to extend your sight further away from your riser. This allows your pin gap to widen and un-cluster your sight pins. It also allows you to finely match your sight ring through the peep if you choose to make that a point of reference.

The downside for bowhunting outweighs the positives IMO. Its a heavier setup. A lot of sights I see that extend too far often vibrate because they absorb a lot of energy from the riser. I've had dovetail sights that had every screw tightened and still rattled at the shot.

Pick your poison.
