My dad is 74 and killed his first shoveler last Saturday. Shooting time was 6:59 and he arrived at the spot I'd chosen at 6:58. I had to leave early to work and at that point he had a drake woody, too. An hour or so later he walks in at my office with two ducks in hand and says, "I know we've killed these before, but I don't know what they call them". He had a drake & a hen gadwall. What a great morning... I never fired a shot. Final word --- You gotta love that "old school" hat.
